Bengal under Complete Lockdown from tomorrow to till may 30 | Find Your Advocate |

The West Bengal government declared a fortnight-long state-wide lockdown on Saturday, starting at 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 16 and ending at 6 p.m. on May 30. It also instituted a night curfew, which will be enforced from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night starting Sunday. This came after the largest single-day increase of 20,846 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday, bringing the total to 10,94,802.







This time, the state is practically shut down. Nabanna declared a 15-day closure of all government and non-government offices, except those affiliated with emergency services, from Sunday to May 30. It was determined that the local train would be stopped sooner. This time, it was planned to fully suspend bus, subway, and ferry services. Taxis and automobiles will not operate unless there is an emergency.

Only emergency services will be permitted, according to the state's announcement, with groceries and shops selling critical goods remaining open from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Only emergency services such as health, courts, power, drinking water, media, sanitation, petrol pumps, and car parts will be eligible, according to the state government's announcement on the day. Other than that, all government and private offices would be closed. Malls, spas, movie theatres, gyms, and swimming pools will all be closed.

Here’s what’s open and what’s closed during the lockdown period:


What’s Closed -

All government/Private offices will remain closed

Transport including Metro will remain closed

Park & Zoos shall remain closed except for maintenance services.

All educational institutes will remain closed

Shopping mall, complexes will remain closed

 

What’s Open –

Emergency services will remain open

Grocery shops to operate from 7-10am

Law and order, Court to remain open

Private vehicles for emergency services allowed

Print and electronic media to remain open

Banks will operate from 10 am to 2 pm.

Sweetmeat shops shall be allowed to remain open between 10 am to 5 pm only.

Marriage functions shall be allowed with not more than 50 persons.
